Q.

What is ice damming and why does it happen?

A.

If you’re a Canadian resident, you’ve either experienced or witnessed some form of ice damming. Winter months that bring in piles of snow, create a build up on the eaves of heated buildings that have sloped roofs. When the snow melts and turns into ice, it can cause a blockage from the melted water. This causes roofing and building damage from water if it leaks through. Ask us how to prevent ice damming to your home.

Q.

What are some of the roofing warranties that sapphire roofing offers?

A.

Sapphire Roofing guarantees all workmanship for roofing installations under normal seasonal weather conditions for 10 years from the date of completion. We also remedy any defective workmanship without charge within 10 years from the date of the initial installation. Furthermore, we offer an optional 15 year workmanship extended warranty plus.

Q.

How important is roof underlayment?

A.

It’s like asking how important air is for humans. Much like air, underlayment is invisible to the naked eye and yet its importance is paramount. Roof underlayment acts as a giant safety blanket, protecting your home from ice damming in the winter, wind driven rain or cracked shingles.

Q.

When it's cold out, will my newly installed shingles settle and seal?

A.

Sapphire roofing employees work year round. We are still hard at work, installing shingles when the weather turns cold. They may not immediately seal in temperatures at or below 40°F (5°C). Once warmer temperatures are present, the sealant will settle activate.

Q.

What happens if one of Sapphire Roofing’s employees is injured or has an accident while working on my home?

A.

Sapphire Roofing employs experienced roofers with Fall-Protection training that is CPO (Chief Prevention Officer) Approved, adhering to strict safety policies. Unfortunately, accidents happen. In that case, we carry a $5,000,000.00 Commercial Liability Insurance policy in order to ensure consumer protection and peace of mind. Furthermore, we require that every employee is covered by WSIB Insurance. If you hire a company or individual roofer without this insurance, you are taking an unnecessary risk. If an accident occurs, you and your insurance company are liable.
